Empowering Readers and Writers Through Research-Based Instruction
Our comprehensive literacy program is built on the Science of Reading and the Writing Process, providing students from Kindergarten through 8th grade with the tools they need to become confident, capable, and enthusiastic communicators.
Key Features:
- Science of Reading Framework: Grounded in decades of research, our program explicitly teaches the five essential components of reading—phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension—ensuring every student builds a strong foundation in reading skills.
- Structured Literacy Approach: We deliver systematic, explicit instruction tailored to each student’s developmental level, with a focus on decoding, language comprehension, and reading fluency.
- Integrated Writing Instruction: Using the Writing Process model, students learn to plan, draft, revise, edit, and publish their work across a variety of genres. Instruction emphasizes grammar, sentence structure, word choice, and organization.
- Content-Rich Curriculum: Students engage with high-quality, diverse texts that build background knowledge, critical thinking skills, and a love of reading and writing.
- Individualized Support: Whether students are emerging readers or advanced writers, our small-group and one-on-one instruction ensures personalized learning aligned with their unique needs.
Our literacy program supports every learner—from those who need intervention to those ready for enrichment—helping them unlock the power of language and thrive in all areas of learning.
Who Should Enroll?
This program is ideal for students who are looking to improve or accelerate their reading and writing skills. Students learn explicit instruction in decoding, vocabulary, comprehension and fluency. Using the Science of Reading research-based framework, students practice reading strategies and then apply to a variety of subjects. You will notice an immediate improvement not just in reading but also in other subjects such as science and social studies. The curriculum materials are specifically curated to support a variety of needs that students may have and are aligned with rigorous state standards.
K-2
Students will use leveled readers and mentor texts to build decoding, fluency and vocabulary. A special emphasis is on reading comprehension using oral retell and response to reading methods. Students meet in groups of 2-3 to read and listen to their peers and build confidence in read-alouds and story maps.
3-8
We use a backwards design model, meaning we prepare students to excel in reading skills on exams such as MSTEP, PSAT and SAT. These exams require students to read short-passages and comprehend them deeply. We practice with short passages to introduce students to formatted reading segments and then provide students with specific strategies to help them improve their comprehension of that text. Students learn about context clues to decode meaning of new words and build confidence with higher order reading skills such as inferences and figurative language.
Reading and Writing Skills will work synchronously in each session. Students will work on language development with weekly grammar lessons and response to reading will be used to deepen student’s comprehension and expression skills.
